- Description: A forty-second call can produce a sale that a one-minute threshold misses. Native call imports can report that value—if the business preserves the original call-to-sale connection.

Imagine two customers calling a boiler-repair business directly from its mobile ads. On Tuesday, one takes forty seconds to describe a fault and book a job. The job is completed on Friday and brings in £240\. The other caller spends six minutes seeking advice about a boiler the business cannot service.

With a one-minute conversion threshold, the six-minute conversation wins. The £240 customer disappears from the conversion count. We have measured the business’s willingness to talk.

You can give Google Ads the sale instead. Its native call conversion import accepts sales information through a Google Sheet, without a paid call-tracking subscription or either caller visiting your website. The business supplies the outcome; Google connects it to the advertising. [How call imports work](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/6301373?hl=en&ref=cascader.io).

That connection needs to exist before the phone rings. Enable account-level call reporting and use a call asset with a Google forwarding number. The number routes the call to your business while Google records it. This mobile click-to-call route is supported in the US and UK; check eligibility elsewhere. Switching reporting on after Tuesday’s call cannot recover it. [Call reporting](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/2454052?hl=en&ref=cascader.io), [matching conditions](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/7545087?hl=en&ref=cascader.io).

Now follow the £240 back to Tuesday. The identifying pair is **the caller’s phone number and the original call start time**. Friday’s invoice time belongs in the sale record. So does Friday’s value. A later callback has its own time; replacing Tuesday’s start time with it would give Google a different call to look for.

This is the small but consequential job someone in the business must own. Keep the original call attached to the booking, then add the confirmed sale and value when they become known. A shared Sheet can preserve that connection without requiring the PPC manager to learn the client’s entire CRM. An office report saying “three jobs this week” cannot tell you which calls bought them.

If you expected a Google Click ID—GCLID—in that Sheet, you can stop hunting. This native import uses the caller number and start time. A separate Google feature can forward GCLIDs with calls, but requires a supported third-party tracking provider. [Call-details forwarding](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/9729405?hl=en&ref=cascader.io).

Use Google’s **phone-call conversion template**. Choose the category that describes the sale, then create the action using “Calls via uploads.” That method is unavailable in “Phone call lead.” Enter the action’s exact name, the caller number and original call start time. Include the sale time, £240 value and GBP currency for our customer. Preserve time zones and Google’s number/date formats. A blank value applies the action’s default; Google does not fetch the invoice. [Setup and template](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/6275629?hl=en&ref=cascader.io).

Upload confirmed outcomes promptly: after the action has existed for at least four hours, preview and apply the Sheet in **Goals → Conversions → Uploads** and inspect results. Calls from very recent clicks may need re-uploading after a day. The sale must occur within the action’s selected conversion window after the original ad click, up to 90 days. Friday’s sale does not restart that clock; the later upload is a separate operation. Importing a sale and choosing it for bidding are separate decisions. If you choose sales as this campaign’s objective, select its sales goal in the campaign’s **Conversion goals** and make the sales action **Primary**. Keep the overlapping duration action **Secondary** for observation and outside any selected custom goal: custom goals bid on included Secondary actions too. The action’s **Count: One/Every** setting cannot exclude another action. [Primary and Secondary](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/11461796?hl=en&ref=cascader.io), [Count settings](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/3438531?hl=en&ref=cascader.io).

Expect incomplete matches: the call-details report supplies caller numbers for most calls over fifteen seconds, with country exceptions. Missing or ambiguous records need investigating; guessed revenue cannot close the gap. [Available call details](https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/9099302?hl=en&ref=cascader.io).

For the forty-second caller, Tuesday and Friday now belong to the same story. The subscription was optional. Someone keeping those two days connected was essential.
